The Systems Analyst (Generalist) is a technical resource for the Business Systems Deployment Team and is dedicated to capital projects. Depending upon the need, this role is involved in system interfaces and integration, conversions/upgrades, extensions, development and certain Business Analyst functions.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Gathering, analyzing and documenting business and technical requirements.
· Technical analysis of third party vendor solutions and formulating recommendations for alternative selection
· Implementing data base additions/changes using various data base skills and application development tools including development and maintenance of stored procedures and triggers.
· Creation of system support, technical and programming documentation.
· Interfacing with other teams on the Chevron Pipe Line, Chevron Enterprise and vendor level.
· Working with IT Project Managers and project team members (IT Business Analysts, Systems Analysts) to determine required project deliverables (e.g. technical requirements, effort estimates, Technical Controls, Architecture Review, Support Documentation, Testing, etc.)
· Providing timely reporting on project deliverables to Project Managers including the identification of risks and mitigations, issues impacting the project schedule, changes in deliverable scope, etc.
· Application/system deployments, integrations, conversions and upgrades.
· Participating in testing as needed (e.g. development of test plans, execution)
· Web/Client Server application development and enhancements using .Net.
· Development, integration, acquisition and migration of applications/systems to new platforms and operating environments.
· Following defined processes and guidelines for working in Pipe Line environment.
· Participating in IP compliance reviews for system security and controls.
· Sharing knowledge/expertise with others; including assisting in design, problem resolution and cross-training.
· Identifying and resolving issues, either business-related or technical
· Being proactive in suggesting improvements and identifying opportunities
· Meeting project deadlines and schedules and providing accurate estimates
Competencies Required:
· Must be self-motivated, flexible and technically skilled
· Ability to work with minimum direction and high degree or professionalism
· Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation – with internal and external parties.
· Basic understanding of system hardware, Application architecture and environment.
· Demonstrated ability to quickly learn/grasp different technologies and systems.
· Must have the ability to handle more than one project, changing priorities, tight deadlines and meet high performance expectations
Required (Basic) Qualification:
· 5+ years of experience utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML and .Net technologies with knowledge of best standards in usability and user-centric design.
· 5+ years experience working with relational data and RDBMS such as Oracle and MS SQL. Skilled with SQL and stored procedures.
· Basic Business Analyst skills and related experience (e.g. requirements gathering, system documentation)
· 5+ years experience with system integration, acquisition and migration of applications/systems to new platforms and operating environments.
· University/College Degree
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.
· Knowledge of the Pipe Line business and related IT systems.
