Job Tittle: Senior Java Developer

Location: Long Island City , NY

Duration: 9 Months +

Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support an organization's application systems. 

Helps to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives.

May be expected to write documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections. 

Writes manuals for users to describe installation and operating procedures. 

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and at least 7+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. 

Must have a working knowledge of relational databases and client-server concepts. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is  expected.

Candidate should be a senior level consultant and have extensive analytical, database design, software and technical/development background for the Solvency II project. 

Ideally the individual would have a solid business background with experience in the Finance, Risk and Actuarial areas. 

Additionally, project management exposure and strong skills for gathering requirements and conducting design sessions a must.

From a technical perspective, senior experience with the following:

IBM Rational development tool

Data Modeling

Oracle database tools

Software tools such as JAVA, JSP, SWT, Java Excel, SOAP, servlets, Java WEBstart, Actuate (e.g., eSpreadsheet)

Report development

Project Management (use of MS Project), project planning and technical writing

WebSphere Runtime Environment - 6.1 and 7.0 server
