Title: IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux Administrator
Location: Sacramento, CA
Duration: 6 Months
Rate: Open (please be competitive)
Mandatory Qualifications:
1. At least seven (7) years of experience supporting complex, partitioned IBM Power5, Power6 and Power7 environments;
2. At least seven (7) years of experience planning, configuring and managing IBM AIX 5.x, 6.x, and 7.x including LPAR, virtualization technologies (e.g. PowerVM), storage, networking, and system security;
3. At least seven (7) years of experience designing and managing IBM Power Systems and AIX for high availability (e.g. PowerHA cluster) in large, complex environments;
4. At least seven (7) years of experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (RHELS) version 4, 5, and 6;
5. At least seven (7) years of experience installing, implementing and administering RHELS on a variety of virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare, PowerVM, etc.);
6. Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux servers and file systems;
7. Experience planning, implementing, and performing backup, recovery, testing, archiving, and logging for IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux servers;
8. Experience monitoring and maintaining the normal operation of IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux systems to support service level agreements;
9. Experience upgrading and patching IBM Power Systems, IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux servers; and
10. Experience producing requirements document, system architecture, server configuration, system connectivity, and procedural manuals;
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Possession of IBM Power System, IBM AIX, and/or Red Hat Linux Certifications.
2. Experience with server fundamentals including kernel subsystems (e.g. scheduler, VM, etc.), system calls, inter-process communication, process/resource management, and file systems.
3. Experience with TCP/IP and OSI model, firewalls, load balancers and networking switches.
4. Experience with network attached storage devices and RAID. Working knowledge of EMC SAN storage platforms.
5. Experience with platform specific server virtualization technologies such as VMWare, PowerVM, Xen, etc.
6. Experience performing system design, installation, configuration and administration services in a lead capacity.
7. Experience deploying enterprise technology solutions within a health care and/or correctional environment.
8. Experience analyzing business requirements and translate into requirements for system capabilities.
9. Experience assessing current application and database architecture, and identify improvement opportunities.
10. Knowledge of CPHCS and/or CDCR operations.
11. Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Knowledge of state IT policy and governance processes.
