Java Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL
Length: 4-6 months

Description :

 

 J2EE technologies (JSP, Servlets, JDBC, SML)
* Experience in object oriented design using UML
* Well versed in the use of design patterns and application frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate and Struts   <-- A must.  
* Working knowledge of tools such as Eclipse, Ant/Maven, SVN and JUnit
* Working knowledge of Websphere and/or JBoss application server software
* Working knowledge of SQL

Additional Preferred Skills
* J2EE technologies, (JNDI, JTA, JMS, EJB, JSF)
* Relational database experience, preferably DB2 and SQL
* Experience using UML design tools
* Experience with Portal, Ajax, Javascript, HTML, CSS
* Knowledge of Web Services and ESB
* Experience working on project teams utilizing agile methodologies such as SCRUM or XP
* Experience with .net (c#)
* Insurance industry experience

The Programmer Analyst’s role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new software applications in support of the
achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications.
The Programmer Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life
cycle.

Responsible for new development and system support activities including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting
programs.
Develops and maintains computer programs using the appropriate technology or language
May be responsible for collaborating with business analysts or client and systems analyst to prepare program specification
documentation.
May be responsible for partnering with business/user group representatives to understand business processes and requirements,
then translating those needs into formal, documented business requirements.
Responsible for examining document requirements, technical design documents, unit test, system test, user acceptance test, and
implementation plans for small to complex projects.
May act as the liaison between business/user group representatives and other team member during development and support
efforts.
May need to develop QA acceptance testing, plans and criteria. Thoroughly tests software to ensure proper operation and freedom
from defects. Both create and execute test plans.
May be responsible for 1st and 2rd tier support for assigned applications. Identifies and triages application issues.
May be responsible for developing estimates on related project work.
Responsible for staying current with new technology developments and development techniques.
Responsible for monitoring and reporting development project status and anticipating potential issues that could adversely impact
schedules.
May define curriculum, design material, and train end users on new or existing applications
Provide post-implementation support
Ensures availability of systems through application monitoring
