Location: Atlanta,GA

 

 Minimum 12 or 12+ Years of IT Experience Required & Preferred

 

·  Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) or Xen Hypervisor

·  Logical Volume Manager (LVM) or Veritas Storage Foundation

The Sr. Linux/UNIX Admin will be part of a team of other Linux Administrators currently working on a Server Virtualization Project. 55% of the time will be spent on resolving production issues, remaining 45% of the time will be on spent working on other projects including the Server Virtualization project.

Short Description:

Linux Sys Admin - Sr level and Above only for this role with at least 12 years of experience. Certifications are a Must!

Responsibilities


· Responsible for the operations and administration of production and development Unix systems environments

· Follow corporate standard and ensure that the systems are maintained according to all best practices, security policy's and compliance requirements.

· Maintain and update current technology run-books and diagrams.

· Perform root cause analysis on system break points to ensure that systems are stable and reduce the probability of future occurrences

· Manage production changes via change management process

· Support and maintain disaster recovery plans

· Coordinate activities between multiple technical teams, third party vendors, and business units.

· Learn our critical business process and quickly gain an understanding of the business priorities in order to prioritize activities and effectively support the business units.

· Other responsibilities also include ensuring capacity is maintained, completing general system management tasks as required, and Monitoring the health of systems

· System scripting (Shell and Perl) for monitoring health, availability and alerting

Install, configure and maintain network Operating Systems, custom applications, and peripherals
• Ensure system stability, scalability, security and performance requirements
• Diagnose, solve and deliver root cause analysis for infrastructure issues and troubleshoot complex system-level problems between servers and applications
• Assist with audit compliance mandates
• Maintain and validate current Disaster Recovery processes and procedures
• Participate in 24 x 7 on-call support rotation


Other Responsibilities:


·  Coordinate new build development ensuring consistency and integration with existing service structure.

·  Assist in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality.

·  Provide technical leadership for development of our client*s products, including database design, technical code design, software management and technical standards for multiple hardware platforms.

·  Perform advanced engineering of the architecture of systems and provide technical expertise to database administrators and applications developers.


Qualifications & Experience

Novell Certified Linux Professional/Engineer and/or Red Hat Certified Engineer

• Experience with a wide range of open-source programs and utilities, including BIND, squid, syslog, SNMP, Cacti, Apache, mySQL,

· Educated to degree level, preferably Computer Science degree or equivalent

· Results driven, self-motivated and positive can-do attitude

· Attention to detail, working to procedures and taking responsibility for output

Must have experience in the following:

· RedHat 5.x, LVM

· Apache, MySql, Shell scripting - Perl

· Websphere, Web server (Iplanet or Apache)


·  8+ years of Linux Administration experience RedHat (RHEL) 4, 5, 6 and CentOS 5.5 or 6.

·  Xen Hypervisor or KVM Kernel-based Virtual Machine

·  Experience working in an Enterprise Storage environment (Logical Volume Manager or Veritas Storage Foundation).

·  Must have experience configuring HBAs (host bus adapter).

·  Good working knowledge of scripting languages such as JavaScript, Perl, Korn, PHP or Python.

·  2 years of experience with Apache and Tomcat, broad web services technologies experience.

·  Intermediate level knowledge in RDBMS.

·  Ability to propose and implement system enhancements to improve the performance and reliability of Web site.

·  VMware or Xen server administration experience is highly preferred.
