The primary responsibility of the position is to provide DBA assistance for developing, testing and deploying Oracle databases associated with Clinicals applications. The development DBA group supports development groups in Minnesota, Colorado and Georgia. The DBA will primarily support projects directly associated with development efforts in the Roseville office and secondarily, support the DBAs in the remote locations. In addition to supporting the development and QA groups, the DBA will assist the Services group by building data conversion and other tools as needed to assist in customer install/upgrades.
· Write scripts to upgrade the application schemas.
· Write scripts to support data conversions.
· Develop and maintain database utilities. Develop frameworks and tools to support and automate standard procedures and policies.
· Maintain entity relationship models using ERWin.
· Work closely with the application development groups to ensure database design meets business requirements
· Ensure naming conventions and standards are followed.
· Assist application developers in database access techniques and resolve connectivity issues.
· Work with Services to provide support for customer installs and upgrades. Some off hours work is required.
· Create and maintain Oracle databases to support development and QA.
· Tune SQL and provide general database use recommendations and best practices.
· Resolve Oracle errors and failures. Work with Oracle support as necessary to resolve problems.
· Conduct routine DBA activities such as monitoring the databases, tracing sessions, tuning SQL and database instances, review log files, perform database maintenance, backup and recovery, security administration, and development of processes for automation of recurring tasks.

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. |
|
3+ years experience in Oracle database administration.
Experience in all aspects of database management and design.
Experience in database performance tuning and testing.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Exceptional problem solving skills.
Software development experiences a plus.
Strong UNIX scripting experience. |
