Position :         Java Software Engineer

Location:        Melbourne, Florida

Length:           1 year

Shift: M-F 8am – 5pm

 

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:*

 

• Design and implement Object-Oriented (Java) software solutions for a movement planning system to optimize traffic through a rail network.
• Define and execute unit, sub-system, and system tests to validate system behavior.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements as well as perform system testing.
• Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
• Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
• Participate as a reviewer in technical and program reviews.

 

Basic Qualifications / Requirements:*

 

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Engineering Design and Implementation role with Java Object-Oriented Design.

 

Desired Qualifications:*

 

• Experience with the following technologies: Java EE, Spring, JPA, Web Services, GWT.
• Experience with C++.
• Understanding and translating customer requirements for Applications development for software solutions.
• Experience and Understanding of SOA.
• Domain knowledge in Computer Aided Dispatch Systems and Railroad Operating Practices.
• Experience with ClearCase SCM and ClearQuest Defect Tracking.
• Experience with Unix or Linux
• Experience with System Testing Processes, Tools, & Automation.
• Ability to creatively solve complex problems.
• Ability to implement customer and industry standards
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment
• Ability to engage and build positive relationships with both customers and internal and external employees
